Provin Mountain Update
On 3/15/25, the crack PVEC RADIO (Remote Assistance for Devices in Isolated Outposts) team visited the Provin Mountain location and installed a band pass filter. Hopefully by rejecting some of the strong adjacent signals it will increase the sensitivity of this repeater. Early reports and traceroutes suggest that it is working well. Thanks guys!

Meshtastic announces version 2.6 firmware preview
The Meshtastic developers have announced a preview of the new version 2.6 release of the Meshtastic firmware. This release includes better routing for direct messages and a new user interface for devices with touch screens. It is pre-alpha software currently, so unless you’re adventurous this probably wouldn’t be a good daily driver. You can read about it on the Meshtastic Blog.

Meshtastic at MTARA hamfest
Thanks to Ez, there will be a Meshtastic table set up at the upcoming MTARA hamfest on March 1, 2025. The hamfest will be held at Castle of Knights, 1599 Memorial Drive, Chicopee, MA. Doors open for vendors at 7:30 AM, 8:30 AM for the general admission ($10 adults, kids under 12 free). If you’re interested in Meshtastic and in the area, this should be a good opportunity to check out some different node types and talk to other users.

FYI, for any licensed hams, Whip_City_Mobile will have a scheduled Skywarn net Saturday (2/15) evening at 6, 8, 10, and 12. Sunday (2/16) morning at 7, 8:45, 9:15, and 11. On the 146.940 Mt Tom repeater cross banded to 443.200.
